Bio

I love all things books. A voracious reader, I belong to the Friends of the Penn Lake Library Mystery Book Club and my neighborhood book club. My background is history. I have a B.A. in History and a Master of Social Studies Education. In 2023, 2022, 2021, and 2020 I taught at the SavvyAuthor WriterCon.

I’m part of an author group that exchanges pages every six weeks and then meets for critiques. We also do a winter write-in and a fall retreat at a cabin up north.

I attended Bouchercon in 2022 and the AWP Conference and The Loft’s Agents and Editors Conference in 2015. In 2020 I judged the Minnesota Book Awards and am currently a member of Sisters in Crime, Lake Superior Writers, The Loft Literary Center, and the Minnesota Historical Society.

My story, YELLOWSTONE, received an Honorable Mention in the Genre Short Story category of the 93rd Annual Writer’s Digest Writing Competition, and A GREAT KNEAD was chosen as a finalist for the 2023 Minnesota Mystery Flash Fiction Contest. The Hennepin History Museum displayed my poem BONNIE AND CLYDE in 2022.

I am querying my first historical mystery THE SECRET OF THE OLD DOCK HAND: A GREAT LAKES MYSTERY and writing short mystery stories. When I’m not working with our family’s rescue dog, I love to travel, read with a cup of tea, or paddle board and cross-country ski with my boys.
